James Altucher of Stockpickr.com believes that there's big money in domain names and he's following the fortunes of companies that are involved in the domain name business. His large cap favorites include VeriSign (VRSN), the monopoly which gets a cut on every .com and .net registration in the world, Google (GOOG), which recently signed a deal with GoDaddy.com to resell domain names to small businesses, and Marchex (MCHX), which owns more than 200,000 domains, including the portfolio they bought from domainer Ultsearch (Yun Ye) for $164.2 million in 2005.
